Where is Puro Surf Hotel + Performance Academy located?
Puro Surf Hotel + Academy is located in El Zonte a quiet town of La Libertad department in El Salvador and offers convenient and direct access to the beach. You can enjoy the beautiful Pacific Ocean waves just steps away from your room. We are located about 1h (50km) from the only international airport of the country: the San Salvador airport. Our resort offers airport pick-up services for your convenience.
How is the climate in El Salvador?
El Salvador enjoys a tropical climate year-round. Expect warm temperatures. There are two main seasons: the dry season (Nov-April) and the rainy season (May-Oct). During the dry season, El Salvador enjoys pleasant weather with lower rainfall and more sunshine. Coastal regions are particularly nice during this time. The hottest period is from March to May, with temperatures reaching as high as 35/36 °C (95/99 °F). On the other hand, the rainy season brings increased rainfall and cloud cover throughout the country. Night storms are common. Despite the rain, temperatures remain relatively high, with nighttime lows only dropping a few degrees.
How are the wave conditions in El Salvador?
Summer Season (End-October to April): El Salvador experiences smaller swells, with average wave sizes of 2-3 ft (measured from the back). Despite the smaller size, the ocean here is powerful, making it a fun and exciting time for surfing.
Winter Season (May to End-October): This time of year features big and stronger swells, with average wave sizes of 4-6 ft. While advanced surfers seek the higher-performance waves, there are also smaller swells between the bigger ones. This means that, despite the more powerful waves, El Salvador remains surfable year-round.
What should I bring for my trip to Puro Surf in El Salvador?
For a comfortable and enjoyable trip, consider packing essentials such as swimwear, sunscreen, shoes, a hat, and lightweight clothing. Don’t forget your surf gear if you have it. Additionally, it’s advisable to bring insect repellent.
